Rob Chandler


Rob joined Sunnybank Brass in 1979 when Graham Cox was the Musical Director. He had played trombone in swing bands and country bands prior to taking on the challenge of brass banding.

Rob and his wife Diane became very active members of the band organisation and Rob took on many roles during his years with the band.


 

 


Prior to the band owning a hall, Rob and Diane kept all of the band's property stored underneath their house in Mt Gravatt. This included instruments, music filing cabinets, uniforms and trophies. Needless to say, Rob became the band Property Officer during this time and spent many years coordinating this.

Rob was also a wonderful 'handyman' and when the need for stand lights for Christmas Carols concerts became evident, he personally manufactured all of those stand lights that are still being used to this day.
During his years with Sunnybank, Rob also took on the roles of Band Sergeant (not an easy task in those days of young teenage players and many band parties), Librarian and Treasurer.

Rob resigned from the band in 2002 when he bought property on the Sunshine Coast and moved there for his retirement.

He continues to play trombone with Nambour & Maroochy 'Sunshine Brass'.
