Alan joined Sunnybank Brass in 1990 after moving to Brisbane from Hastings in New Zealand.  Alan had been playing cornet with the Hastings Citizens Band since he was 11 years old. 
 
Alan has been a playing member of the Sunnybank Brass, without interruption – a total of 29 years!

Not only has he been a committed player but has held the administration positions of Vice President, Committee member. Librarian, Public Relations Officer, Webmaster and creator of the Sunnybank website and Hall Manager.
 
Alan instigated and organised the Band's 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2013 and managed two band tours to Stanthorpe in 2015 and 2016, Alan organised and managed the band’s attendance at the Australian National Contest held in Launceston, Tasmania in 2017.

​Alan’s commitment to rehearsals and performances is also exemplary and like everything else he takes on for the band is carried out quietly, effectively and efficiently.
 
Alan has given freely of his time and expertise over these years  and is richly deserves the honour of being awarded Life Membership.
