50th Anniversary Concert - June 2013

The concert commenced with the No.3 and No.2 bands showcasing the hard work that had gone into preparing for the event under the baton of Cathy Reid. Both bands displayed and excellent standard of playing and entertained with Soloists and ensembles accompanied by the bands.
Ralph Richardson gave an excellent insight talk, highlighting some of the 'Junior' bands history through the 80's and 90's The Interval gave the many guests a chance to catch up with old friends and fellow players from yesteryear. There were many well wishes via email and Facebook to the bands from others who were unable to make the event due to prior commitments. We were also pleased to see our local member for the MacGregor Ward Mr Steven Huang attend our function. The second half commenced with the No.1 Band playing 'The Wizard' a great start to the variety program that followed. The program was presented in decade periods that saw the band transition with changes in music styles and uniforms. An invited presenter for each of decade spoke of memorable occasions in the bands history while our game volunteers modeled the various uniforms. The evening finished with the cutting of our fiftieth birthday cake by current life members. Concert Program |
